A code of ethics is something that we all learn from the time that we are children. You're told what you're allowed to do and the things that are deemed to be unacceptable in society. For most people, it's not something that you spend a lot of time thinking about. You know that it's not okay to steal money to pay for your mortgage and that killing someone is one of the worst things that a person can do. But, the truth is that everyone has their own code of ethics and you will find that there is no rule that everyone on the planet follows.

One place where you will commonly see a code of ethics is in the workplace. Whether you're working to market a new product or are operating machinery in a factory, there are going to be some ethics that you're expected to follow while you're there. Some of them might deal with how you work with your fellow employees while others may relate to customer interaction. Some businesses take their code of ethics very seriously and if you want to work with that firm or management team then you're going to need to learn how to follow all of the rules.

Another place where you might encounter a specific code of ethics is at some schools. If you're planning to send your children to a private school then the code that they need to follow might include things like how they dress and their behavior in the dorm rooms. When you go off to university to study fine arts or business you will also be expected to follow certain protocols. For example, all universities have strong rules when it comes to plagiarizing papers. Some schools will even expel you from the institution of you are caught cheating in any way.

If you're planning to move to a new country then you should check to see if there are any differences when it comes to their ethics and beliefs. Many people know that if you want to visit the Middle East as a woman then you might need to cover your head or might not be able to wear certain clothes. But, if you're traveling anywhere for your business or to study in another nation then you should make sure you know exactly what you're getting into when it comes to their ethical code. This will keep you from getting into trouble once you get there. There are some pretty scary stories about people who were unprepared and were even arrested for things that they did not know that they were doing wrong.
